What is Pearls?
Pearls Learning Center is an American educational company started by Maha El Khouly and Jennifer O’Neal who together have more than 20 years’ experience teaching children with learning and behavioral differences in Egypt and the United States.
Why We Started Pearls
We started Pearls Learning Center because we recognized that children and youth with learning and behavioral differences, as well as their parents and teachers, often do not receive the support they need. Instead, they experience failure, stress, burn-out and a loss of self-esteem that affect them the rest of their lives. We aim to keep this from happening.
What Motivates Us
We pursue our work with passionate commitment because we are not only teachers, but mothers of children with learning and behavioral differences. Having watched our own children struggle, we are well-acquainted with the heartbreak and fear, the dogged effort and the sheer exhaustion parents experience as they do their utmost to help their children find their way in education and in life.
How We View Difference
At Pearls Learning Center, we see differences, not deficiencies. Differences are not something “wrong” with a child that need to be “fixed.” Rather, they are opportunities for children, parents and teachers to understand how a child learns, find out which strategies and approaches work best, and implement them at home and at school.
What We Believe
Every human being can learn, and every human being has the right to be taught in the way he or she learns best. We look forward to working with you and your family.
“I would recommend Pearls Learning Center to any parent who is considering giving his/her child English classes. They work based on your learning style and the goal you want to achieve through the tutoring sessions. A journey will be mapped out. This plan is optimized, tailored, and personalized to the learner’s needs.”

“I highly recommended Pearls Learning Center for all kids that are having some learning difficulties or even for those who want to excel. I have seen great progress with my son who was struggling at school. The progress he made after very few weeks was also noticed by his teachers. I am lucky I got to know about the center and be one of the first joiners.” - Parent of PLC student
